Alicia P. Rodriguez has served as the Associate Director of the Latina/Latino Studies Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2003. She is the main advisor to undergraduate minors and majors and graduate minors. She is also involved in curriculum planning for the unit, manages all of the unit programming activities and periodically teaches Latina/o Studies courses. Over the years Alicia has served as a co-coordinator of the Latina/o Family Visit Day Program and member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Committee. She is the recipient of the Cathy Acevedo Award for Commitment to Students in 2008 and the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2008 at the Latina/o Congratulatory Ceremony. Prior to arriving at Latina/Latino Studies, Alicia worked in instructional design, intergroup relations, and international exchange. While in graduate school and as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, she conducted research on issues of cultural identity and multicultural education. She has published articles in several journals, including Race, Gender, & Class, Educational Theory, and Cultural Studies: A Research Volume, and in edited volumes, including Unfinished Business: Closing the Racial Achievement Gap in Our Schools, Critical Voices in School Reform: Students Living Through Change, and This Bridge We Call Home: Radical Visions for Transformation. Alicia holds a Ph.D. and A.M. in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In December of 2008 Laura started working in the Latino Latina/Studies Program as the office manager, which has given her the opportunity to work with the faculty and students. Prior to her current position, she was the secretary at La Casa Cultural Latina. Laura was awarded La Mujer de La Semana award from M.E.Ch.A (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan) in March 2009 and the Cathy Acevedo Award for Commitment to Students at the May 2009 Latina/o Congratulatory Ceremony
